Lenses
Hi-Index 1.60
High index lenses are made of materials that are compressed, or denser, so the same amount of visual correction is
taking place using less lens material than traditional plastic requires. "High index" means that the lenses are constructed
of a plastic material that has a higher index of refraction. The "index of refraction" refers to the speed that light travels as it
passes through the lens material.
There are a variety of plastic lens materials in high index. Remember the higher the index the thinner the lens will be and
generally they will be lighter too. Generally speaking, the higher the index of refraction of the lens, the higher the cost will be.
But if you have a strong or heavy prescription the benefits are definitely worth the extra expense.
