Lenses
Plastic CR39 w/ Scratch Resistant Coating
These are the same as the Basic Plastic Lenses, but they include a special scratch resistant coating which helps prevent hair line scratches. Most people refer to this lens type as Plastic Lenses. CR-39® is a trade name used for conventional plastic lenses. This is what the majority of prescriptions are made of. The lens is light weight compared to glass, and may be made in just about any prescription. Plastic lenses are much lighter and less breakable than glass lenses. Traditional plastic lenses are made from a hard resin that is cast or molded in the wet state into lens blanks. These plastic blanks can be ground into specific shapes to fit any frame. Plastic lenses are great for prescription sunglasses due to their tintability factor. You can virtually tint a plastic lens to any color under the rainbow.
